Fees

Attuned Hearts Counseling is private pay. This allows me to best protect your privacy and confidentiality, prevents misdiagnosis/over-diagnosis in order to get treatment, and ensures that you are treated as a human, not a “case” to manage for insurance purposes.

My fees are as follows:

Couples Therapy (80 minutes, required for intake) – $360

Couples Therapy (50 minutes) – $235

Individual Therapy (50 minutes) – $205

Individual Therapy (80 minutes) – $310

Premarital Counseling – $235 per session, plus one time $35 fee for premarital assessment and couple workbooks

Couples who complete 8 sessions of premarital counseling are exempt from paying the state portion of the marriage license fee (read more at Twogether in Texas) as well as the 72 hour wait period.

GOOD FAITH ESTIMATE

Under the No Surprises Act, you are entitled to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of what the charges could be for the services provided to you. It is not possible for a therapist to know, in advance, how many sessions may be necessary or appropriate for a given person upon the initiation of therapy. Your total cost of services will depend upon the number of sessions you attend, your individual circumstances, and the type and amount of services that are provided to you. This estimate is not a contract and does not obligate you to obtain any services listed, nor does it include any services rendered to you that are not identified here. If you receive a bill at least $400 more than your GFE, you may dispute or appeal the bill.

How do I get started?

Congratulations on taking the first step to strengthen your relationships. You are welcome to self-schedule your first session if you want to start right away, otherwise please fill out the Contact Us form and I will reach out within 1-3 business days to schedule a quick call to ensure we are the right fit for your therapy needs. If you are scheduling a first session for a couple, please select “Couples Therapy, 80 minutes” as the intake for couples is 80 minutes and we can decide after intake if the couple will need 50 or 80 minute ongoing sessions.

I’ve never been to therapy before; what should I expect?

Welcome! Beginning therapy is a meaningful step toward deeper connection, healing, and personal growth. Intake for couples is 80 minutes long, and 50 minutes for individuals. It is recommended that clients attend weekly sessions to build momentum and consistency. Your therapist will begin by gently exploring what brings you in, your hopes for the process, and the experiences that have shaped you. Together, you’ll co-create a plan that honors your goals, pace, and capacity—so the work feels grounded, intentional, and uniquely yours.

What happens in the first few sessions?

This looks a little different for couples and individuals. For couples, in our initial intake session, Ashley Marie will ask assessment questions to ensure couples therapy is appropriate. The next two sessions will be spent one on one with each partner Ashley Marie can hear about your younger years since messages we get growing up impact our adult relationships. Then in session four, we will hone in on the couple dynamic to find the places they are getting stuck. This is where Ashley Marie tracks the negative cycle hurting the couple. The “agenda” for these first 4 sessions sets the groundwork for everything else we do moving forward.

For individuals, Ashley Marie will spend time getting to know who you are as a person before diving into deeper inner child work. I believe taking this slower approach creates space to build trust and allows clients the time they need to feel comfortable opening up in sessions.

How often do we need to come to therapy?

I prefer to see couples and individuals weekly, especially in the initial stages, so we can get traction. Once we’ve worked together long enough to identify patterns and work on shifting them, sessions can drop down to less frequently, but coming to therapy is like working out: you’re not going to see gains if you only come once a month. Also, consistency and a willingness to put in the work is key!

How long does it take to experience results?

This really depends. When both partners come in ready to own their part in what’s getting them stuck, and do the hard work of being vulnerable, we tend to see faster results. If a couple is coming in highly escalated, we will need to spend more time in the de-escalation phase before it is safe enough for the couple to do the deeper, vulnerable work. It can take even longer if couples are resistant to being vulnerable with each other. But no matter how you spin it, couples therapy takes time. Your relationship didn’t get into this stuck place overnight, so consider investing in this work for a significant amount of time if you want lasting change.

For individuals, it also depends on the reasons for seeking therapy. Many individuals start therapy for one presenting problem, then once they find relief, they discover they want to continue working on other areas of their lives to maximize their personal growth.

Do you accept insurance?

Attuned Hearts Counseling is fully private pay. Being a private pay practice allows me to offer deeply personalized, emotionally attuned care without the limitations imposed by insurance companies. This means your treatment plan is guided by your needs—not a diagnosis code or session limit. Our work can unfold at the pace your healing and relationships truly deserve, with full confidentiality and intention.

Is counseling confidential? How do I know my information will be kept private?

Everything you share in session is held in strict confidence, with only a few exceptions required by law, such as matters related to safety or legal obligation—which we’ll review together during your intake. At Attuned Hearts Counseling, your privacy is deeply respected, and I am committed to protecting it with care and integrity.

What happens if I run into Ashley Marie in public?

That’s a thoughtful question—and an important one. If you happen to cross paths with me in public, I will not initiate contact or acknowledge you unless you choose to do so first. Your privacy and emotional safety matter deeply, and I will always prioritize protecting both, even outside the therapy room.

If we do couples therapy, will our therapist pick sides or tell us we should get divorced?

The answer to both is a hard no. I believe all behavior makes sense when we understand the emotions beneath it. At Attuned Hearts Counseling, I use Emotionally Focused Therapy to gently uncover what’s truly driving the disconnection between partners, without taking sides. Ashley Marie will never tell you whether to stay or leave a relationship; that choice belongs to you. As long as both partners are willing to show up and do the work, I’ll walk with you every step of the way.

How do virtual sessions work?

You’re welcome to join your virtual session from a phone, tablet, or computer—whatever feels most comfortable. To support your privacy and presence, I ask that you find a quiet, uninterrupted space and check your internet connection ahead of time so we can make the most of our time together.

Do you offer virtual sessions for couples?

Yes! I do require both partners to be in the same place, but couples therapy has been proven just as effective with virtual sessions as in person.

I’m interested, but have a few more questions before I book a session. Can I talk to someone first?

Of course! I offer a complementary Connection Call for any potential new clients designed to create a sense of alignment from the start. You’ll have the opportunity to speak with me directly for about 15-20 minutes before you ever book your first session.
